कोविद -19 महामारी के दौरान ग्रामीण अस्पतालों को ऑक्सीजन सांद्रता प्रदान करना

कोविड-19 महामारी का दुनिया पर विनाशकारी प्रभाव पड़ा है। ग्रामीण राजस्थान में इस जानलेवा वायरस से कई लोगों की मौत हो चुकी है। दूसरी कोविड लहर के दौरान ग्रामीण अस्पतालों के डॉक्टरों से परामर्श के बाद ऑक्सीजन की आपूर्ति में भारी कमी का पता चला। मदद करने के लिए, हम राजस्थान के ग्रामीण अस्पतालों को 10 लीटर ऑक्सीजन सांद्रता दान करने की योजना बना रहे हैं, जिससे यह सुनिश्चित हो सके कि ऑक्सीजन की कमी के कारण किसी की जान न जाए।

Providing Rural Hospitals With Oxygen Concentrators During The Covid-19 Pandemic

The Covid-19 pandemic has had an devastating effect on the world . In rural Rajasthan, many have succumbed to this deadly virus. After consultations with doctors from rural hospitals during the second Covid wave revealed an acute shortage of oxygen supplies. In order to lend a helping hand, we plan on donating 10 litre oxygen concentrators to rural hospitals of Rajasthan, thereby ensuring that no lives are lost due to the shortage of oxygen.

Distributing Food packets during the Covid 19 pandemic

The successive Covid waves and their accompanying lockdowns have not only loomed under an overarching dread vis-a-vis the pandemic, but have also endured lesser access to food. Daily wage labourers remain the most affected in this regard, and it is especially for them and their families that Annadata plans to distribute food packets with essential commodities until the world is once again pandemic-free.

Despite counting amongst the world’s newly emergent superpowers, India still ranks as 131 out of 189 countries as per the 2020 Human Development Index. One of the most elemental concerns plaguing modern India today is its failure to provide basic menstrual care access to its rural sectors. In other words, the twin factors of lack of awareness and financial backing has led to millions of rural women nation-wide to remain in the darkness. Most of them resort to using non-sterilised pieces of cloth multiple times during their menstruation cycles, thereby causing serious health risks. One National Survey Report indicates 64% of women having reported that their families cannot afford to purchase sanitary pads.

In Rajasthan, beera means brother, the one who can be relied upon. Rural parts of western Rajasthan bear a socio-economic disadvantage in comparison to the rest of the state due to its starker landscape and harsh weather conditions. As a result of their accompanying economical limitations, significant strength of its population struggles to make its day to day ends meet. Added to that is the financial pressure wielded by sociocultural norms on the family members of prospective brides. After all, undertaking the costs of a wedding is a major life expense, thereby factoring itself into the prevalent reluctance suffered by the society towards the girl child. Families steeped in traditional patriarchy, where the male members continue to be the sole bread winners are oftentimes seen lacking them due to a death or misfortune. In these cases, Annadata indends on stepping in as a BEERA, in order to substantiate marriages by filling in for the family’s missing financial providers. By contributing each such family a sum of INR 21,000/-, Annadata joins hands in contributing to a society where it considers every person as its own family member.

The scorching summer heat in the Thar desert causes mercurial rises to degrees as high up as 50 and as low as 1 degree Celsius. A life in such weather conditions is challenging to sustain, and a potential hazard here is the susceptibility of rural household fires due to the dried hay used for thatching and storage purposes. Besides, the prevalence of gas, wooden and earthern stoves exposes these rural households to hazardous fires that are already poor in terms of structural quality. For any householders that bear the misfortune of a roof breakdown or domestic fire hazard, Annadata commits itself to a one-time monetary support for repair and recuperation purposes.

Improve the future by supporting the present

As per a Hindustan Times report, abject poverty causes one in every three children of rural Rajasthan to refrain from attending school. Most of these children are forced into child labour and many of these children continue to find their livelihood in the unorganised sector for the rest of their lives. This means poor wages, labour vulnerability and unpredictable livelihoods. Added to this, the general lack of sensitisation vis-a-vis educational importance amongst Rajasthan’s rural populace is responsible for already uneducated parents neglecting their educational duties towards their children. Annadata purposefully wishes to break this chain of ignorance and lends counselling services to several parents, thereby helping increase the student turnout in rural schools. At Annadata, we hope to be able to ensure every child’s rightful access to education, including distribution of important resources related to it such as school bags, water bottles, tiffins, geometry boxes, stationery and similar educational instruments.

Assistance to the specially abled

Unlike many parts of India that receive better humanitarian support for its physically handicapped populace, rural Rajasthan lacks the most basic of resources to support its citizens suffering from physical disabilities. While we might not be able to alter the misfortune of a person battling physical disabilities, we at Annadata have initiated project SAARTHI to equip handicapped persons with a tricycle and other important equipment in order to enable their day to day mobility, thereby reducing one of the infinite disjuncts that their fate has descended upon them. After all, every person is entitled to live a dignified and independent life, irrespective of their handicaps.

The glaring issues of global warming and climate change are becoming more alarming by each passing day. Perceiving the rapid meltdown of the poles, most of the world’s climate panels and scientific research organisations fear existing coastlines to completely submerge by 2050. A major contributor to the problem is lack of civil awareness and concern. In its personal bid to raise much-needed climatic awareness, Annadata is encouraging people to of rural Rajasthan adopt a sapling and nurture it closely till it becomes a full-grown tree. While one tree might not seem like much in the larger scheme of things, this act is a promising benefactor of personal responsibility and duty toward’s mother nature.

Supporting rural families with earthenware and steel canister for water collection

Challenges of water scarcity strengthen for obvious reasons in arid and semi arid desert belts. Many more fortunate inhabitants of the Thar store rainwater in large in-house wells. However, less fortunate families, who cannot afford these household luxuries are dependent on collecting water from nearby sources, craning their necks under heavy burdens of 5-8 litres of water that they walk with, balancing on their heads. Recognising this daily struggle around the basic commodity of water, Annadata plans to reaching out to such families and equipping them with bigger mud pots and steel canisters to retain larger volumes of water, along with a proper fitting stand for maximum safety and convenience.

Supporting farmers with medical grade first aid kits to take care of their cows

In villages of Marwar, literacy related to animal husbandry remains poor even amongst its practicing farmers. Thus, it is commonplace for diseased or poorly performing cattle to be cast aside by its farmer. Their relative lack of access to veterinary doctors adds to this escapist tendency, and the sheer number of abandoned cattle is hard to miss. In order to garner better accountability on the part of the cattle owning farmers, Annadata vouches to give out medical grade first aid kits, which can be devised for a general check up of the cow or bull until veterinary aid arrives.

When compared to the homeless and begging wanderers of urban cityscapes, a rural destitute has lesser chances of receiving donations. Wealth inequalities plague all parts of the world in similar ways, and while one single person might not be able to resolve it all, but our founder firmly believes in according dignity to every human being irrespective of the extent of their misfortune. Thus, Annadata strives to provide a basic pair of slippers and blankets to its rural destitute, such that no one has to wander barefoot in the scorching summer or battle the harsh winter alone.

Cheering the spirit of sportsmanship

The land of ancient ace warriors and more modern-day star sportsman such as Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, Devendra Jhajharia,Apurvi Chandela and Krishna Poonia, Rajasthan is resplendent with talented athletes and sportspersons at every level and sphere. However, many talented athletes and sportspersons in rural areas are limited due to their lack of sporting equipment, facilities, resources and poor or no access to proper training. Ongoing social stigmas limit familial initiatives to divert any attention to their sporting talent, and many players experience a lack of motivation due to these combined circumstances. Annadata recognises the zeal and talent of each one of these sportspersons, and is honoured to participate in their sporting journey by equipping them with sports kits, thereby fitting in atleast one missing puzzle piece in their ongoing endeavours.
